Travel and PhotographyWanderlust permeates the thread of my life, and through good fortune I have been able to partially satisfy the hankering by a variety of professional and personal circumstances. Since the 1970s I have lived and worked around the USA as well as in Europe. My profession has carried me to Tokyo, Sydney, and Paris in recent years, and I often vacation in Europe. My sole trip to Africa took me to The Gambia in 1985. I received my first 35mm SLR camera when I was 14 years old. Immediately I began a lifelong love affair with light and film. In hindsight, I can see this passion arising coincident with a period of great transience in my life. Photography was a creative outlet, of course, and comforting in a sense, but at the time I was not yet conscious of a need to capture memories and to share stories with my friends who became increasingly scattered across the globe. My hobby went virtually dormant for a decade or so. I now live in Alaska, and for the past six years I have had an unequalled fire burning in me. The LIGHT alone is inspiring, affording me uncommon temporal and spatial views into my surroundings. The depth of a moonless Arctic winter night begs to be captured by enticing me with dancing green lights. Tranquility descends with the appearance of pastel snowscapes in the fall. Late spring explodes with the colors of renewed life and vigor. The endless sunrises and sunsets of summer cast seductive shadows and shades across the landscape and its inhabitants. I still have a Canon F1 (new) 35mm camera purchased in 1982. I have re-built my entire FD lens collection, which became ravaged by dire finances in the late 1980s. My prize lenses are 20mm f/2.8 and 200mm f/2.8. I love having good glass. Oddly enough, I am extremely happy with the results of my Olympus APS camera, which I purchased a few years ago on a trip to Norway. My first venture into digital came with the purchase of a Canon S50 in the spring of 2003. Many shots found here were taken with the S50. In October 2003 I purchased my first medium-format camera, a Mamiya 645e. I have 80 and 55mm lenses. The results are stupendous, and I am pleased to offer these and 35 mm shots of aurora in fine art prints for your home or office. Please visit Light Trekker Studios.
